Did you happen to notice that 4 different names for God are used by the Psalmist in Psalm 91 – El Elyon, El Shaddai, YHWH, and Elohim? As I re-wrote those first and last verses, the reality of the truths hidden in those names became more deeply impressed on my heart, as well as my mind. “If I dwell (reside, settle) in the shelter (protection, security) of the Most High God, I will find rest (peace, ease, comfort, refreshment) in the nearness (presence, closeness, reality) of the Almighty. Then I will say (with confidence and hope) of the LORD that He really is my refuge and my fortress. My mind and my heart (even in the darkness of the night and the unknowns that are facing me and my family this very day) will trust in the mighty and strong God who loves me and has promised to protect and deliver and satisfy me. (Psalm 91: 1 – 2, 14 – 16) That is enough for me today!
