What do you think flashed through Peter’s mind when Jesus called his name after serving the surprise breakfast on the beach to a group of the disciples? Why would Jesus single him out? His guilty conscience might have reminded him that he deserved a strong reprimand and a lecture or perhaps the consequences of His behavior would be explained. No doubt he was surprised when Jesus simply called him by name and said, “Do you love Me?” A positive response to that question always leads to actions that correspond, doesn’t it? So today, Lord Jesus, help me to demonstrate my love for You in very tangible ways. Help me to serve and to care for those who You bring into my life in ways that would please You. What “little lambs” need Your tender compassion? What “sheep” could use Your words of encouragement?
