I was intrigued by Paul’s connection of maturity with a confidence that God could change the mind of others who see things from a different point of view than mine. No need to argue or get defensive or be persuasive. He actually doesn’t need my help! Let God be God. And in the process, I will be the one who makes some spiritual progress.
We are having to sell our house and rent a house down the street. Verse 13 gives me perspective, “forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead . . . .” What lies ahead for me is far greater than what is behind me. I know God’s hand is upon our situation, and He is orchestrating the steps of our lives for the better.
