SCHEDULED or SPONTANEOUS?

When it comes to making time for Bible study, there is no “one size fits all”, is there? Some people need to look realistically at their schedules and make a commitment to block out a regular and disciplined time for study each week. Keeping those “appointments” diligently will enable them to accomplish their goals week by week. For organized people, this is not legalistic or constricting. It is simply a tool that will allow them to feel good at the end of the day about the choices they have made and the way they have used their time. It’s the way life works best for them.

There are many other people who much prefer the spontaneous mode. One day their study time might be early in the morning – some quiet moments to begin or finish the lesson for that particular week. Another day some time might be open in the afternoon or even in the evening hours. Having the freedom to use available time is the incentive that keeps them motivated to continue thinking about the truths that they are discovering as they read the Scripture for themselves and let the Holy Spirit teach them His truth.

Isn’t it great to know that there are no rules to follow? There is not just one right way! The one thing that we do know for sure is that God will surely bless you in surprising and wonderful ways as you spend time reading His Word. Won’t you join us each week as we study the letter Paul wrote to the Philippians? Then let us know if you lean toward spontaneity or a schedule?
