Where does the gift of discernment come from? There are some people who just seem to possess acumen and insight when it comes to making good decisions and helping others to understand the outcome of their choices and actions. They are the kind of people who you want as friends and counselors. When Paul prayed for his dear friends in Philippi, he asked God to enable them to experience those very same character traits. “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1: 9 – 11
