LOVE WITHOUT LIMITS – Intro to Lesson 13 – April 7 – 14

Are these words familiar to you?  “His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men.  For out of His infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.”

They were penned and set to music by Annie Johnson Flint (1866-1932). It was because of a life of loss and illness, tragedy and poverty that Annie shared with us her deep conviction that it was out of His limitless love that Jesus came to this earth. He didn’t make up excuses for staying in the comfort of His heavenly home. He didn’t delay coming when His Father sent Him. He didn’t ask for a substitute or another option. He didn’t offer up another suggestion or need an organizational chart. He didn’t veer from the plan that the Father always had in His mind – the plan to send Him as a Redeemer and Savior for the people who were in bondage

What made Jesus willing to not only come to this earth as a human baby, giving up the rights and privileges of His equality with God, but willing to become obedient to death, even death on a cross? (Philippians 2: 6 – 8) It could only be because of His love for you and me, for all peoples – His love that is without any limits. It can be called extravagant or lavish love, but our limited vocabulary cannot quite convey the depth of it. It is as we look at the cross that the extent of His love begins to dawn on our consciousness.

“Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus – vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!  Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!  Underneath me, all around me, is the current of His love. Leading onward, leading homeward to His glorious rest above.”
