Sometimes we hear a sermon that is focused on the second coming of Jesus and certainly we often think about the wonders and glory of heaven and our gift of eternal life, but rarely do we think about the “end times”. The way that the prophets and Gospel writers describe those days are frightening, aren’t they? But Jesus did not avoid telling His disciples the truth about their beloved temple, nor hold back from giving them serious warning about what people will face before “the Son of Man comes in clouds with great power and glory.” Perhaps this is a good time for you and me to raise our consciousness several notches and ask God to enable us “to stand firm. Be on guard. Be alert. Keep watch.” As the song reminds us – “Jesus is Coming to Earth Again. What if it were today?” Would it change my priorities and my conversations?
