What’s Your “Great Expectation”? – Insight for Lesson 6

Some time ago my friend lay peacefully in a coma following a very severe stroke. The family gathered and waited because they knew the time was coming quickly for her to leave them. As her daughter bent down and softly said to her, “Mom, you know you’re not alone”, a wide smile came across her mother’s face. Then, to the shock of her family, she quietly whispered, “Jesus is here. He has a place prepared for me.” Moments later she slipped away to live in the presence of Jesus. When I heard this story, it made me smile and caused me to reflect on the reality of my own mortality. Obviously my friend had taken Peter’s advice seriously, “Look forward to the day. Think clearly about what is real and what is temporary.” The song reiterates what is so true, “It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ. One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase, so bravely run the race ’til we see Christ.”
