Sharing An Insight – Lesson 5

When you think of the word humble, what synonyms come to your mind?  There is an old fashioned one that is not considered very complimentary these days.  It is the word meek.  Jesus used that word in one of the beatitudes, didn’t He? “Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth” – Matthew 5: 5 NIV  Here are some ideas which I found helpful this week as I considered what the implications of this word might be for me.  Meekness means “the ability to receive injury without resentment and praise without pride” or as The Message translates the beatitude, “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less.  That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.”
