Why Pray When You Can Worry?

Once Mary got over the shock of the news that the angel brought to her, it would have been very easy for her to start worrying.  She could have questioned the veracity of the message for a few weeks, but then the reality of it would have become evident both externally and internally.  She could have spent many sleepless nights thinking about the “what ifs”,  the “why me”,  and the “when and how” kinds of questions.  Instead she seemed to understand that she could and she would trust God with every detail of her life.  It seems that her motto was “Why worry when you can pray?”  She evidently spent her time pondering God’s plan, believing His promises and rejoicing in God’s love and mercy.  Together with Joseph and Elizabeth, she watched God do what only He could do.  What a great way to live!
