Young children routinely need vision testing, don’t they? There is no way that they can understand that they are not seeing clearly what others can see. I remember going to the eye doctor as a little girl and discovering that with glasses I could read what the teacher wrote on the blackboard from the back of the school room and that I could read street signs from a long distance away. I had no idea what I had been missing! If this is true with our natural vision, just think what a pair of “spiritual glasses” could do for our “long distance vision”. No longer would immediate pleasures satisfy us. Why would they when we can see what “forever kind of joy” looks like. No longer would the attraction of “now” be a substitute for “eternity.” Lord Jesus, thank You that IN YOU I can see how You designed life to be lived. “Be Thou My Vision, O Lord of My Heart!”
