YOUR BEST LOVE LETTER

“How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach . . .”  (Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 1850) Poetry books are filled with words of tenderness and love that are so beautifully expressed.  Hidden in boxes on closet shelves are precious letters expressing the heartfelt sentiments of a lover for his/her beloved.  These days beautiful thoughts of adoration and admiration are carefully expressed in cards and through brief notes and even texts or messages.  Hearing words that express one’s love for another person will bring a sense joy and pleasure, but sometimes reading these tender and deeply meaningful thoughts can bring an even greater sense of delight.  One can read them over and over again.  Would you agree that written sentiments can be savored and can reach down into the deepest part of the receiver?

Isn’t it amazing that God not only sent Jesus to convey His great love for us, but that He made sure we could come to understand His unending compassion and mercy for us through the written Word?  Over and over again in the Bible we read stories of how He loved and protected His chosen people and then when the time was right, He sent Jesus to be the Savior of all people who would put their trust in Him?  In Psalm 37, David reminds us that “God delights in every detail of our lives” and guides the steps of those who belong to Him. Along with this very comforting and encouraging idea, he also suggests that if we will “take delight in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart”.

You are invited to join with us in our new 6-week Bible study as we explore the idea of what it means to find our “delight in the LORD”.  How do we do that in practical ways? What would help you to find deeper joy and experience a sense of satisfying pleasure as you think about God? You’ll find these lessons to be motivating and encouraging as you discover new ways to “delight yourself in the Lord”.
