It’s one of those polite phrases that we can almost say without thinking. We use it when asking someone to do a favor for us. We say it when we doubt either someone’s availability or ability. In an effort to be considerate of the strength or the schedule of another person, we easily tack it on to the end of our instructions. BUT, it’s not one of those phrases that we ever need to use when we come to our Heavenly Father in prayer, is it? It is never, “IF You can”. Like the troubled father when he brought his son to Jesus for healing, we can say with confidence, “Because You can, I do believe. Help me to believe!” (Mark 9:24)
