While a package may be beautifully wrapped, the external wrapping is not the point of the gift. The giver is usually far more interested in watching as the gift is opened and the present itself is admired and then used. It makes me wonder why it is so easy to talk about God’s gifts to us, to admire their wrapping and even to sing about God’s generosity, while He waits for us to experience, to put into use, all that He offers to us – Isaiah 30: l8. Lord, help me today to accept Your good gifts to me and to thoroughly enjoy using them! I don’t want to keep you waiting any longer.
