How can I experience “God’s mighty power” and accept willingly (even joyfully) the suffering that is inevitably part of life? The verses in II Peter 1: 3 – 5 have helped me grasp the possibility by reminding me that God’s power is experienced as I count by faith on His great and precious promises. These promises are the means by which I am enabled to live a godly life. What promise do you want/need to believe today?
The promise of Matthew 11:28-30 is a path to joy for me.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me. For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” NIV
The promises I need to believe in today is that God will never leave me or forsake me and fear not for God is with me. Our family’s home was broken into yesterday for the second time in 3 years and items were stolen. No one was home at the time except our dog who was not harmed or let out of the yard, which was a blessing. It’s heartbreaking to experience this again. I take comfort in knowing my God is with me and I don’t need to fear or worry over this. I take comfort in His presence.
I attended Spirit West Coast Christian music festival over these last few days. As I was listening to the music and messages, I looked upon a sea of people each with a story to tell of how God’s mighty power met them in their circumstances. God is meeting our family in the midst of our uncertainty right now. It is such a joy to see how God is working all things for good!
